I had a great experience at our first meeting. One woman I had been speaking to told me she had a hard time getting her daughter to check her blood sugar. The kids were playing soccer and pretty soon my son came up and dramatically claimed to the world that he was "low." In our family the response is, "check your blood sugar," so he got his monitor and the girl (yes, same one mentioned a second ago) turns to her mother and says, "mom, I'll check mine too."

One little tiny experience showed me how important it was to keep up this effort. The children need to be around other children who have to do the same things they do. Parents need that kind of support!

The Next Event

  • January 27, 2008 11am
  • The next support group meeting will include a fun activity! Support group meeting and then swimming at the Genoveva Chavez Center in Santa Fe.

     Meet at 11am at the Chavez Center. Participants can then swim at the 12pm session.

    (Note: Swim fees are the responsibility of the participants.)
